An offering that costs me something

Calling all PK’s –

Raise your hand if you have been in more meetings and services than you could even count.

(My hand is raised.)

Raise your hand if you have ever put on a “happy” mask when you have gone to church, so that the lady who sits in front of you won’t ask if anything is wrong…(Am I the only one with my hand up?)

I mean, seriously…Nobody can know you actually are going through a battle and that you are a real person. You have to keep up this reputation and be a good example to the people around you.

{P.S. Nobody likes a fake Christian}

Let’s just get real here.

I have taken more notes, listened to more preaching tapes/CD’s, etc, and been to more church than I could even number.

I have stood up in front of thousands of people, ministering to them.

I’ve lived that life: a very clean, straight-cut Christian life.

Yes, that sounds like a great accomplishment or something to be commended, but in all truth, I am not satisfied.

Now, I am not talking about being satisfied in who the Lord is and what He has been to me…I will always be satisfied in Him…for it says in Psalm 91 that He will satisfy me with long life and show me His Salvation.

I have not been satisfied in what I have offered to Him…

There's a part of my heart crying

"There's more. There's more"

I think about the widow who gave her last mite vs. the Religious leaders who gave a small percentage of their excess. (Luke 21)

What an example we have in that woman.

Yes, we have been immensely Blessed by the One who is Our Shepherd.

Not only have we been taken care of financially, but more importantly He has given us Abundant Grace and Anointing to do the work of the ministry.

Whether it be preaching, singing, helping, etc.

How often have we just sung a song here and preached an offering there out of our vast supply HE has given us, and it didn’t cost us anything.

When God sees our offerings, He doesn’t see amount. What He sees is percentage.

He doesn’t see how well you sang that song today…. He sees how much you gave your heart in worship.

Real Love Costs you something.

I desire a life of ministry that costs me something.

Yes, it has cost me a little…and I am truly thankful for the opportunities that I have had thus far in my life and don’t take that lightly.

But I’m ready for a Christian life where it’s not always a white-gloved, sanitized Christianity.

Sometimes, you just gotta get your hands dirty.

I’m ready to love those on the street that haven’t even heard the name of Jesus…even if it costs everything I own.

I’m ready to get out of my box when I’m at the grocery store, and just minister the Love of Christ to someone, either through a smile, or to bless them with a warm meal.

I’m ready to love those women who have been battered, abused, trafficked.

I’m ready to be always ready.

And I’m ready to pour out more than I knew I had.

Isn’t that what Jesus did? He loved the sinners. He loved the unlovable.
His love for me cost Him something: His very own life.

Let’s leave our “happy” masks at home this week.

Let’s put on the  real Love, Joy and servanthood of Christ…

And continually bring an offering to Him that costs us something.
